There are many different types of hand grenades in use, including many that are considered obsolescent but still in circulation.
This poster shows a number of different hand grenades that have turned up in the hands of terrorists, including two improvised ones shown here. Knowledge of what insurgents and militants are using is an important part of recognition training.
Note that all of the posters in this series of 18 are also available in a book of technical descriptions and explanations, written by Patrick Gericke, publisher of the posters. He is a de-mining expert, veteran of both the Rhodesian and South African armed forces and a security expert specializing in terrorist weapons and explosives.
